Barrymore, fortified by champagne and ego, forces Andrew to decide what he really wants from his acting career.

09-08-2013 - Theatre

No pictures in Gallery

There is going to be British theatre on Friday, 9.8:

The Lone Twin presents "Nine Years" at 17.00.

The place is Hällä-stage, Hämeenkatu, Tampere.

Here's some more on them:

“You long to travel with them and join their world.”—Kronen Zeitung (Austria)

Gregg Whelan and Gary Winters of Lone Twin employ economical means to lure you into loveably loopy narratives of their travels and travails. The engagingly off-the-wall British performance duo typically combine offhand conceptual brilliance with warmth and wit in left-of-center pieces concocted from their experiences. On the surface, this charming and deftly pieced together show documents their activities over their first near-decade working together (no conventional markers for these guys, thank you). But soon you’ll pick up on subtler signals too. A strange magic takes over, lending a glow to small coincidences, seemingly happenstance events, and extra-ordinary—extraordinary—moments that pull at your heartstring."

14-01-2015 - English Essay Writing Competition 2015

No pictures in Gallery

The Essay Writing Competition has been organized 31 times now. It is aimed at the pupils of all Finnish upper secondary schools in their first year.
The competition is funded by The Federation of Finnish-British Societies and the Helsinki Finnish-British Society is responsible for the practical arrangements.
The jury, which is also the Writing Competition Committee responsible for setting the questions and the schedule for the competition, is composed of five judges, including representatives from the Helsinki Finnish-British Society, the Finnish National Board of Education, and the University of Helsinki Department of Modern Languages (English Philology). The teachers are informed of the competition date by email, the addresses provided through the Board of Education. The essay questions are available for download on the morning of the competition on the Finnish-British Society’s website.

The schools are invited to send the best essay from each group to the Society by a set deadline. The essays are shared between the judges, who choose the five best essays from theirs batch. The 25 best essays are then read by all members of the jury and the winners chosen from among them. The marking follows the normal standards for school essay writing. The number of schools taking part varies from 35 – 80 and the number of essays sent from 120 – 190. The standard of the essays sent has been very good over the years, but the best ones usually stand out and selecting the winners has not been difficult for the jury.

Secretary
Writing Competition Committee

Accommodation

My friend, Herman Kelomees, who has organized many international events in Estonia, such as Model United Nations and the Model European Parliament sessions, recommended this hostel, because of its great location, it is situated in the city center, and it is clean and decent as well.
